Villanova University is a private Catholic university in the United States. It is located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania Villanova near Philadelphia.

It is named after St. Thomas of Villanova. It is the oldest Catholic university in Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1842 by the Augustinian Order and the tracks go back to the Saint Augustine 's Church in Philadelphia, built by the brothers of the Order in 1796 and the affiliated parish school Saint Augustine's Academy was founded, 1811.

The university has 9,535 students and 545 professors and is the largest Catholic university in Pennsylvania.

The sports teams of Villanova University, the Wildcats. The University is a member of the Big East Conference.
