Ville Itälä

Ville Itälä ( born May 10, 1959 in Luumäki ) is a Finnish politician and Member of Parliament in the National Coalition Party and the European People's Party.

Life

Itälä was elected to the Finnish Parliament for the constituency Varsinais -Suomi 1995. From 2000 to 2003 he was Minister of the Interior in the government of Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen. From 2001 to 2004 Itälä was Party Chairman of the Conservative National Coalition Party. He was replaced in 2004 by Jyrki Katainen in the party chairmanship. 2004 Itälä was elected to the European Parliament and re-elected in 2009. Since 2002, he is married to Sari Itälä.
