Vinburnin ( L- eburnamonine or (-)- eburnamonine ) (trade name: Cervoxan ® ( F, E) ) is a substance from the group of vinca alkaloids. It is produced by acid hydrolysis of Vincamine, the principal alkaloid of the Small Periwinkle ( Vinca minor ). The enantiomer ( )- eburnamonine is genuinely in Hunteria eburnea, also a plant from the family of Hundsgiftgewächse, the racemic form of ( ±)- eburnamonine in Vinca minor before.
Vinburnin belongs to the group of peripheral vasodilator substances and should influence the cerebral blood flow and cerebral metabolism positive. Accordingly Vinburnin components of drugs for the treatment of cerebral circulatory disorders and brain disorders ( eg, ease of age-related brain underachievement ). In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the substance is not used as a drug. In many other European countries finished product are now withdrawn from sale.
