Vinča Nuclear Institute

The Institute of Nuclear Sciences " Vinča " (Serbian: Institut za Nuklearne Tweedledum " Vinča ", Serbian Cyrillic Институт за нуклеарне науке " Винча " ) is the largest scientific research institute of Serbia. It is located in the village of Vinča (municipality Grocka ), about 14 km southeast of Belgrade. It was founded in 1948 as the Institute of Physics, 1950 renamed the Institute of the structure of matter and contributed in the years 1953 to 1992 the name of the Institute of Nuclear Sciences " Boris Kidrič " (named after the politician Boris Kidrič ).

The Institute include two research reactors, numerous laboratories, a library and its own infrastructure (banks, shops, etc.) for employees. The Institute employs 408 scientists and approximately 350 additional employees (as of March 2007).

Well-known former employees of the Institute include Pavle Savić Slobodan Ribnikar, Jordan Pop - Yordanov, Djordje Jovic and Ratko Janev.
