Vincent Dumestre

Vincent Dumestre ( MAY 1968) is a French lutenist and conductor.

Vincent Dumestre studied classical guitar at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and Art History at the École du Louvre. According to these studies, he devoted himself mainly to the theorbo, baroque guitar and lute. This first seminar, later with Hopkinson Smith and Eugène Ferré at the Conservatory of Toulouse; added came basso studies with Rolf Lislevand in the Conservatory of Boulogne -Billancourt.

After the successful completion of his studies, he played with many well-known ensembles from the scene of historical performance practice, such as the " Ricercar Consort ", " La Simphonie du Marais ", " Le Concert des Nations ," " La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy ", "Academy ". Dumestre is in constant exchange and collaboration with the " Centre de musique baroque de Versailles ".

In 1997 he founded the ensemble led by him " Le Poème Harmonique ". With this he turned to the beginning of the Italian Baroque music, in a second period but he devoted himself mainly to science-based interpretation of French masters of the 17th century.

For his work Dumestre received numerous awards, the price for him in 2003 in Venice awarded "the best ensemble of the year 2002". In 2004 he received from the French Minister of Culture of the Order " Chevalier des Arts et Lettres ". 2005 his recording of Lully's " Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme " with the " Grand Prix du Disque et DVD " of the " Academy Charles Cros " was excellent. 2008 made ​​performances and their recording of Lully's opera Cadmus et Hermione.
