Vincenzo Camuccini

Vincenzo Camuccini ( born February 22, 1771 in Rome, † September 2, 1844 ) was an Italian painter of classicism.

Camuccini was in his hometown of Rome pupil Domenico Corvi; to about his 30th birthday he copied especially older painter. His first and probably most famous own picture was The Death of Caesar from 1798 (Naples, Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte ). In the course he painted mainly to ancient Roman and church history motifs. Towards the end of his life, Vincenzo Camuccini did increasingly made as a collector of Flemish and Dutch works.

A large part of his work and his collection is on display at Palazzo Cesi Camuccini in Cantalupo in Sabina, which was purchased and set up by his son Giovanni.
