Virgin Samoa

Virgin Samoa ( until the end of 2011 Polynesian Blue ) is a subsidiary airline of Virgin Australia, which connects Samoa with New Zealand and Australia.

History

Virgin Australia (then Virgin Blue ) and the Government of Samoa signed after months of negotiations in 2005 a joint venture agreement for the operation of an airline by the name of Polynesian Blue. Polynesian Blue, which was renamed in late 2011 as part of a restructuring of the Virgin companies in Oceania in Virgin Samoa, owned 49 % by the State of Samoa and 49% of Virgin Australia Holding. The remaining 2% are in possession of Aggie Grey's resorts and hotels. The company replaces the international routes of Polynesian Airlines, which serves only the distances between Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
