Virginia Zeani

Virginia Zeani ( born October 21, 1925 in Solovastru, Transylvania ) is a Romanian opera singer (soprano ). She is best known for the role of Violetta in La Traviata (Verdi). She sang this role more than 600 times.

Among her 70 roles was "Dialogue des Carmelites " by Poulenc, who has selected her for the title role in the world premiere.

She is married to the Basso Nicola Rossi - Lemeni. Both were "Distinguished Professor" at Indiana University. Currently Zeani lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she still teaches a few private students. 2012 kührte the OPERA MAGAZINE for TEACHER OF THE YEAR. Her students have included, inter alia, Silvia McNair and Marylin Mims.
