Virtuemart
VirtueMart is an open source online shop system. VirtueMart is Free Software released under the GNU General Public License. It runs as a component in the content management system Joomla! , Is written in PHP and uses MySQL as the database.
Development
The shop system was initially developed from April 2004 as a project under the name mambo - phpShop by Sören Eberhardt- Biermann. In August 2005, it was in the course of the cleavage of the Mambo Development Team and the creation of Joomla! renamed in VirtueMart. VirtueMart been used for years in a large number of online shops worldwide success. VirtueMart is since December 2012 before version 2.0.16.

Requirements and Compatibility

Furthermore, the PHP libraries MySQL, XML and Zlib are required. Support for https ( openSSL ) and cURL is recommended.
VirtueMart 1.1.x is only with Joomla! 1.5.x compatible. From VirtueMart 2.0 is only Joomla! 1.5.0 and later.
