Viscount Soulbury

Viscount Soulbury, of Soulbury in the County of Buckingham, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, which is run by the family Ramsbotham.

Award

The title was for the conservative politicians Herwald Ramsbotham, 1st Baron Soulbury, created in 1954. This had last been Governor General of Ceylon, having previously held various ministerial posts in the UK government.

Subordinate title

The first Viscount was in 1941 created Baron Soulbury Soulbury in the County of of Buckingham, collected when he retired from the House of Commons. This title, which also belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom, is now run as a subordinate item.
