Visitor center

A visitor center is designed as a focal point for tourists public institution with museum character, which has a direct relation to a local attraction or the immediate area. Visitor Centers are usually connected directly to national parks, archaeological sites, landmarks or the like. They are used in addition to the information of the visitors in the integrated museum and information as a central and starting point for hikes and guided tours, so visitors power steering, with appropriate infrastructure such as spacious signposted roads, visitor parking on site and affiliated restaurants.

In contrast to the tourist office of a visitor center combines several tourist purposes in one place and is applied significantly greater in the control, which is why it is often conceived itself as a tourist attraction. There is a smooth transition, especially at archaeological sites between the character of a visitor center and an open air museum.
