Visunharat Thipath ( full throne name Somdet Chao Brhat - Anya Visunha Rajadipati Sri Pada Sadhana Kanayudha; * 1465 in Sawa (Chiang Dong Chiang Thong); † in Vieng Chan 1520) was 1500-1520 King of Lan Chang.

Life

Visunharat Thipath was the seventh son of King Sai Tia Kaphut and was educated privately in the palace. 1480 he was appointed governor of Vien Chang. 1491 his brother, King La Sen Thai Puvanart appointed him Chief Minister and gave him the title of Phya Sena Mueang a Regent name Visun (flash). Between 1495 and 1497 he was regent for his young nephew Somphu, whom he dethroned in 1500 and was crowned in 1501.

The Government of Visunharat Thipath was marked by prosperity and peace. Many religious monuments were built at his instigation, including the Maha Viharn at Wat Visun. Also, a number of religious texts and literary works were written or translated into Lao language.

Visunharat Thipath died 1520 in Vieng Chan and left a son, who succeeded him as Phothisarath I (r. 1520-1548 ) to the throne of Lan Chang.
