Vitosha Mountain TV Tower

The TV Tower Kopitoto ( official name: Complex Radio Broadcasting Center " Vitosha ", Bulg Комплексен радио - телевизионен център " Витоша "; abbreviated KRTZ Vitosha - Kopitoto; Bulg КРТЦ Витоша - Копитото ) is a 108 -meter high TV tower on the same 1,348 meter high crag Kopitoto ( German: the hoof ) southwest of Sofia Vitosha Mountain.

The tower was built in 1985 and took over the broadcasting of radio and television programs, which previously located in the urban area of old TV tower Sofia had been used. Like the old TV tower was designed by architect Liuben Podponew in collaboration with Stefan Tilew this tower. Engineer was Ivan Jantachtow.

The concrete tower has at the foot of the hexagonal tower shaft and at the top of the tower via two separate baskets also hexagonal floor plan. In between are a ring around the shaft four aerial platforms that provide directional antennas place. There is a steel antenna in white- red signal painting at the top of 17-story reinforced concrete shaft.
