Vivodina

Vivodina is a village of 75 inhabitants ( 2001) in the County of Karlovac (Croatia). It lies in the northern section ( with a total of 26 villages and hamlets ) in the former county Ozalj in a region where the wine is produced for 700 years. Vivodina located 10 km north- west of Ozalij and 20 km north- west of Karlovac. The Slovenian border runs west 1 km away.

History

The first known source via Vivodina dates back to the 14th century. These sources tell us that a free Vivodina District - Justice ( iudicatus ) - and was proclaimed as the " Brotherhood of noble men. " It had a position of an independent district until the 16th century. Vivodina was first mentioned by name in September 22, 1321.

Only in the 19th century there was a primary school in Vivodina. This was opened on 18 November 1862.

Wine

In 1889, a phylloxera infestation destroyed two -thirds of the vineyards. In 1892 they ruined vineyards with serum began to treat and put seedlings with new American cuttings.

Traffic

Only since 1901, a road was built from the river Kupa direction Vivodina with the construction of the railway line Metlika - Bubnjarci - Karlovac.

Attractions

The parish church of Sveti Lovro was built in 1753-1757 on behalf of Baroness Vojnovica - Jelacica. From here you have a beautiful view far beyond the county.
