Vladas Garastas

Vlada Garastas ( born February 8, 1932 in Linkuva, Rajon Pakruojis, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian basketball coach and basketball official.

Life

After graduation in 1952 at the high school Biržai graduated Garastas 1959 Lietuvos Kuno valstybinis kultūros institutas. Since 2004 he is honorary doctorate from the University of Physical Education in Lithuania.

From 1952 to 1960 he played in Kaunas " Zalgiris ". From 1956 worked as a trainer in Biržai. From 1959 to 1970 he headed the Sports Committee Biržai and 1971-1978 the sports school Biržai. From 2003 to 2011 he was president of Lietuvos Krepsinio Federacija. His successor is Arvydas Sabonis.

From 1979 to 1989 he was head coach of Kaunas " Zalgiris ".
