Vladimir de Terlikowski

Włodzimierz Terlikowski (also: Vladimir or Wladimir de Terlikowski ) ( born April 23 1873 in Poraj, † 1951 in Paris) was a Polish painter of the Ecole de Paris.

History

Terlikowski was the son of a standing in the Russian service railway employees noble descent. His spent his childhood near Łódź. In essence, he taught painting to travel within Europe, North Africa, India, New Zealand and Australia in itself. For a short time he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and in the studio of Jean -Paul Laurens in Paris.

In 1900 he debuted with a solo exhibition at the Galerie Bernheim -Jeune in Paris, where he lived permanently since 1911. In subsequent years (1913, 1917 and 1920) he exhibited at Bernheim. Likewise, " Jean Charpentier " (1927) and " Barreiro " (1931 ) were works in galleries in Paris " La Boétie " (1920 ), is shown. He participated in exhibitions held in Paris ( Autumn Salon in 1912 and at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts 1930). In Warsaw, its images were 1913 and 1914 issued by the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Poznan and 1929.

1920 Terlikowski was awarded the Legion of Honor medal. He maintained a studio in Paris' Montparnasse.

Work

The early works Terlikowskis show a relationship to Fauvism and later impressionistic landscapes and cityscapes emerged above all (of France, Venice, Spain and North Africa), portraits ( as of Antoine Bourdelle, Henri Nouvion and the wife of Moise Kisling ) and still life. His works are characterized by sharp color contrasts. He used thick oil paint and palette knives that what his pictures is a distinct surface structure. He was also active in the mural painting.

Pictures of Terlikowski are owned by the Musée National d' Art Moderne and Art Museums in Bordeaux and Troyes.
