Vladimír Jiránek

Vladimír Jiránek ( born June 6, 1938 in Hradec Králové, † November 6, 2012 in Prague) was a Czech cartoonist, illustrator and director of animated films. He became famous with the animated series Pat & Mat and Bob and Bobby - rabbit out of a magic hat.

Life

He attended high school. Since 1956 he lived in Prague. In 1962, he completed a journalism degree at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. After graduation, he began to publish his caricatures. Especially after the Velvet Revolution In 1989, he became known for his political cartoons. His short film What have we done the hens? he joined in 1978 at the Berlinale.

Honors

  • After him the asteroid discovered in 1997 was named Jiránek.
  • Czech Medal of Merit - 2005.
  • The "White Monkey " 2009 award from the Czech cartoonist association.
