Vladimir Lukin

Vladimir Petrovich Lukin (Russian: Владимир Петрович Лукин; born July 13, 1937 in Omsk ) is a Russian politician and since 1993 member of the Duma of the Yabloko party.

Life

Lukin graduated in 1959 the Faculty of History at the State Pedagogical Institute, Moscow. After PhD and Habilitation at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, he worked in the years 1968 to 1987 as head of the Center for Far Eastern policy on North America Institute of the USSR.

From 1992 to 1993 Lukin was Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the United States. Since 1993 he is member of the Duma and one of the founders of the liberal Yabloko party, the vice - chair of this committee. He is also Chairman of the Duma since 1993, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Permanent Observer of the Russian Federation at the Organization of American States.

In 2004 he was appointed by President Putin to representatives of human rights issues. The Office shall be obliged to party political neutrality, his membership in Yabloko rests. After two five -year terms his candidacy could not be proposed again. He was succeeded by Ella Pamfilova.

During the riots Euromaidan Lukin was sent in February 2014 as an agent of Russia to Kiev. He participated there in the drafting of agreement on the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine of 21 February 2014.

Since 1997, Lukin is President of the National Paralympic Committee of Russia.

Vladimir Lukin is married and has two sons.
