Vladimír Neff

Vladimír Neff ( born June 13, 1909 in Prague, † July 2, 1983 ibid ) was Czech writer, translator, writer and father of the writer Ondřej Neff.

Life

As a child of a rich business family, he attended the elite public school, then, from 1921 to 1925, the secondary school and until 1928 the Academy of Economic Studies in Geneva. After graduating, he worked in a warehouse of a Viennese porcelain factory and in a department store in Bremen. In 1935, he joined as a lecturer of foreign languages ​​in the publishing Melantrich, but only remained there until 1939. Since that time, he lived only from writing.

Works

His first works were published in the second half of the 30 - years. It involves parodies of detective novels and political satire. During the German occupation he was involved in the creation of philosophical dictionary Dictionary Filosofický involved per samouky Neboli Antigorgias, which briefly appeared from the communist coup in 1948. His best works are historical novels, in addition he translated from the French, German and Russian and writes screenplays.
