Vladimir Stoychev

Vladimir Dimitrov Stoitschew ( Bulgarian Владимир Димитров Стойчев, born February 24, 1892 in Sofia, † April 27, 1990 ) was a Bulgarian Major General, diplomat and member of the International Olympic Committee.

Life

Stoitschew was a graduate of the Theresa Military Academy in Vienna and the Military Academy and Military Academy in Sofia. 1924 and 1928 he took part in the equestrian competitions of the Olympic Games. From 1930 to 1934 he was attaché in France and the United Kingdom. In 1934 he was appointed head of the Cavalry Academy in Sofia, but was released a year later as Antimonarchist again.

Stoitschew was in the Second World War the 1st Bulgarian Army General. From 1945 to 1947 he was ambassador in Washington and at the United Nations.

He was until he was replaced in 1982 by Ivan Slawkow since 1959 President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

From 1952 to 1987 he was a member of the International Olympic Committee, where he was from 1956 to 1959 Executive Member.
