Voith Gravita

The Voith Gravita is a diesel hydraulic locomotive with a center-cab from Voith. In Vehicle Register the type Gravita 10 BB is done with the series number 1261.

History

The first prototype of a gravitation was presented at InnoTrans 2008. On 11 July 2008, the German railway announced that it intends to procure 130 locomotives of the variant 10 BB as a switching locomotive. The German railway leads the Gravita 10 BB under the series designation 261, the gravitational 15L BB is designated as the class 265.

Variants

A total of five different Gravitas be brought to the rails in the range 400-2200 kW, in addition to the four-axle 10 BB, 10L BB, 15 BB, and 15L BB the three-axle variants 5 C and 5L C as well as the six-axle 15L CC for narrow gauge railways.

The locomotives of the type 10 BB get an 8-cylinder Series 4000 engine from MTU in PZB 90, radio control, and switching. The 15 BB and BB 15L to 12 - receive or 16-cylinder engines in the same engine series. In the series approval of gravitational 15l B there were problems. After but could be demonstrated that the axle can not be overloaded, the first arranged restriction was lifted to 70 000 km.

Design features

On a self-supporting frame the structures are arranged. In the longer stem are the engine and transmission, the shorter stem the electrics. The cab takes up the whole width, while on both sides of a page is circulated to the Stems, via which even the access to the cabs. The doors are arranged in each direction of travel left. Are cylindrical deformation elements between buffer and front carrier on the end faces. The frame rests by Flexicoil pairs of springs on the bogies. About low-mounted train - pressure rods are transferred braking forces the train and. The DB locomotives have hollowed axle shafts and monoblock wheels.

The hydraulic transmission is a mechanical transmission downstream, can be selected via the standstill between shunting and line gear.

Stock

A total of five locomotives of the type Gravita 10 BB have been Em than 847 delivered to the Swiss company Gerlafingen steel and Panlog.

Eighteen more locomotives (August 2011), including the ten used by Deutsche Bahn as Class 260, are the property of the leasing company for North Rail. The first three are for changing tenants in use. The eighth locomotive delivered ( serial number 10052 ) also contributes to the DB the company number 260 001; the other have 260502-260510 consecutive numbers. Two locomotives are owned by the Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik.

From December 2010, the first were delivered of 130 new Gravita locomotives as Class 261 of DB Schenker Rail, they are first shunting at stations in the Hamburg area ( home service Hamburg- mesh ) and Halle ( Saale) used.
