Vojtěch Filip

Vojtěch Filip ( born January 13, 1955 in Jedovary in České Budějovice ) is a Czech politician and chairman of the Czech Communist Party KSČM and Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Deputies.

Filip studied in Brno Law, where in 1982 he received his doctorate. After the successful master's degree in 1978, he worked until 1990 as an operating counsel and operates since 1993 a law firm.

Filip initially became involved in the Communist youth movement and joined in 1983 the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. He was involved in České Budějovice, first at the local political level. After the Velvet Revolution of 1989 Filip was elected in 1990 in the first free elections for the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and KSČM in the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly, to which he belonged from 1 January 1993 until dissolution of Czechoslovakia. Since 1996 he is member of the Czech Chamber of Deputies for the KSČM and was until 2002, Group Chairman of his party. 2002-2010 and again he has been since 2013 Vice- President of the Czech Chamber of Deputies and 2005 took over from long-time party leader Grebeníček the post of chairman of the KSČM.
