Vojtěch Jasný

Vojtěch jasny ( born November 30, 1925 in Kelč, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech film director and screenwriter.

Life

Vojtěch jasny took a degree in philosophy and Russian literature at Charles University in Prague and from 1946-1951 cinematography and directing at the Film Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. From 1951 to 1956 he worked in the film studio in the army. From 1956-1970 he wrote and directed the film studio Barrandov and television. 1970 emigrated Jasny for political reasons from Czechoslovakia, first went to Yugoslavia to Austria, where he was awarded the Austrian citizenship, and then lived and taught in New York. At the Burgtheater in Vienna, he worked occasionally as a theater director. In 1989, he returned in the wake of the Velvet Revolution in Prague.

In the 1970s jasny was known for film adaptations of two books of Heinrich Böll, and television productions for ZDF and the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Germany.

For the film All Good Countrymen jasny 1969 Award at the International Film Festival in Cannes with the Best Director Award.
