Volga Shipping Company

The Volga -Reederei ( full official designation since August 18, 1998 Russian Открытое акционерное общество Судоходная компания " Волжское пароходство " short form: ОАО " СК " Волжское пароходство "; German Open Joint Stock Company shipping company " Volga - shipping line, " short OAO SK Volga shipping company, also OAO Volga - flot ) is a river shipping company based in Nizhny Novgorod on the Volga River in Russia. It went from the December 1, 1954 in the Soviet Union existing United Volga -Reederei ( Волжское объединённое речное пароходство, ВОРП ) show, which was converted into a public limited company on 24 March 1994, initially as Акционерное общество открытого типа Судоходная компания " Волжское пароходство " short AO Volga - flot.

History

The origins of the company date back to 1843, making it the oldest existing shipping company in Russia according to own data.
