Volgograd State Pedagogical University

The Volgograd State Pedagogical University (also Volgograd State Pedagogical University from the Russian: Волгоградский государственный педагогический университет ) is a public educational institution in the Russian city of Volgograd.

History

1931, the University was set up by decree by the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR as a successor to the Industrial Pedagogical Institute of Stalingrad. The building had been, together with the library during the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II completely destroyed. 1949 the school received the name of the writer Alexander Serafimovitch. In the context of political reforms in 1961 by Nikita Khrushchev not only the place but also the institution was renamed. In 1992, she then received university status. She counted the late 1990s to the 10 best educational and language facilities in Russia and among the 100 best universities worldwide.

University

2011 There are approximately 7,700 students, including 5,000 full-time students and 650 academic staff. The State Pedagogical University is divided into 13 faculties; Rector of the University is Professor Valery I. Daniltschuk.
