Volkach (river)

The Volkach is almost 27 km long left or eastern tributary of the River Main in Bavaria ( Germany ).
Course
The Volkach begins at the confluence of Grundbach, Wood Creek and Mühlbach in the municipality of Michelau im Steigerwald between the hamlets Prüßberg and Neuhausen. In the first few kilometers to the local situation Michelau it is still called Aubach, from here then Volkach. They first flows in a westerly direction through Dingolshausen and Gerolzhofen, then briefly north to the mouth of the silver stream and in the lower reaches of the main southwest through the towns Frankenwinheim Brno city, Kolitzheim - Zeilitzheim, Volkach Obervolkach and the city Volkach. Then, it is first passed under the canal, the main loop of Nordheim abbreviates for skippers, before it flows south of Volkach Astheim into the Main.

In the Volkach come brook trout, stone loach, bream, gudgeon, bullhead, hazel, pike, carp, rainbow trout, eel, chub, roach and tench, and in some tributaries of the stone crayfish, and occasionally the crayfish before.
