Volker Prechtel

Volker Prechtel ( born August 9, 1941 in hops on the lake; † August 7, 1997 in Grobenzell ) was a German theater, film and television actor.

Life

Volker Prechtel studied education and worked for many years as a school teacher. Only later he found about amateur theater the path to a professional acting career. His distinctive face with prominent nose was mostly seen in supporting roles in more than a hundred film and television appearances.

Volker Prechtel became internationally known as Malachy on the side of Helmut Qualtinger and Sean Connery in the film adaptation of Umberto Eco's novel The Name of the Rose (1986). In the detective series The King he played a bus driver.

Volker Prechtel died in August 1997 due to a cancerous condition.
