Volkswind

The People's Wind GmbH develops, finances, builds and operates wind turbines. People wind acts as an independent producer of electrical energy ( IPP), and has more than 40 wind farms one of the largest operators of wind turbines in Germany. The company was founded by former employees Enercon Martin Daubner and Matthias Stommel 1993. The main site of the People's Wind GmbH is located in Ganderkesee, Germany, also located worldwide subsidiaries are located in France, England, Poland, Bulgaria and the United States.

History and Milestones

1993

  • Founding of the People Wind GmbH as IPP
  • Installation of the first wind power plant with a capacity of 500 kW

1998

  • Construction of the hitherto largest wind power plant with a capacity of 4.5 MW (Model: Enercon E-112 with a height of 124 m and a rotor diameter of 112 m)

2001

  • More than 50 MW of installed capacity

2002

  • A subsidiary in Paris, France
  • More than 100 MW of installed capacity

2005

  • A subsidiary in Gollnow, Poland
  • A subsidiary in Manchester, United Kingdom
  • Construction of the world's highest to date wind turbine ( model V90 Vestas with a height of 125 m) in the wind farm leeches North
  • More than 200 MW of installed capacity

2006

  • Development of the hitherto largest wind farms in France with a capacity of 60 MW
  • More than 300 MW of installed capacity

2007

  • Opening of new headquarters in Ganderkesee, Germany
  • Establishment of the Bulgarian subsidiary in Varna
  • More than 400 MW of installed capacity

2008

  • Establishment of subsidiaries in Portland, USA

2009

  • Commissioning of almost 100 MW of wind power capacity in Germany and France with various wind turbine manufacturers: Siemens, Enercon, Vestas, transit countries
  • More than 500 MW of installed capacity

2010

  • Commissioning of the first wind farms in the forest
