Volta Redonda Futebol Clube

The Volta Redonda FC - as V.R. FC abbreviated and also known as Voltaço - is a Brazilian football club from Volta Redonda in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The first team of the club currently plays in the fourth highest league in the country, the Série D.

History

After the 1974 union of the States adopted Guanabara and Rio de Janeiro, there was a merger of the amateur clubs Federação Carioca de Futebol and Federação Fluminense de Desportos. On February 9, 1976, it founded the new football club FC Volta Redonda. He followed the aim to represent the city of Volta Redonda in the state championship in Rio de Janeiro. In 2005 the club celebrated one of its greatest successes when he Taça Guanabara won the first time and thus classifying the ranks of the big clubs from Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding area. In the Copa do Brasil, the club had managed a year, another surprise hit when he hit, among other Atlético Paranaense and América Mineiro and moved into the Cup quarter-finals.

Stadium

The venue Volta Redondas is the 1976 re-opened Estadio General Sylvio Raulino de Oliveira. It has about 20,000 spectators.
