Vorstadt (Königsberg)

The Front suburb was a district of Königsberg ( Prussia). The Altstädtischer Lastadie and the Kneiphof adjacent to the Front suburb lay to the south, from the Pregel. To the south it was bounded by the Zuggraben the later imperial road.

History

1329 gave the German Order of the territory of the city Kneiphof for applying a Lastadie. Later it became a kneiphöfsche freedom and given its own court seal: a hand holding from the clouds the scales of justice, on both sides of the hunting horns Kneiphofs.

The Front suburb was repeatedly plagued by large fires. At the last fire in 1811 Kant's birth house was destroyed.
