Vossloh G 6

Development

With the type of locomotive Vossloh after a long time a triaxial type in the offer after the MaK G 765 was built recently in 2002. Was presented to the G 6 at InnoTrans 2008. Through various adjustments to new railway regulations, the type is referred to as the first representative of a fifth generation of Mak or Vossloh locomotives. Technology

The construction of G 6 series is optimized for shunting. With a choice of additional equipment, the locomotives can be adapted to specific conditions of use.

The locomotive frame of the G 6 is already prepared for different trim levels. The structures are divided into individually removable sections, which contributes to ease of maintenance. They were developed from those of the previous types, the cab is a complete redesign.

The use of engines from three different manufacturers is provided. In addition to the variant as a shunting engine with a top speed of 35 km / h, a variant with up to 80 km / h will be offered.

For power transmission turbo gear units type L3r4zeU2 Voith is employed.

The wheelsets are disc brakes. Cooling and exhaust system are prepared for future emission regulations and can eg be equipped with a particulate filter.

Use

A first Vorführexemplar was completed in 2008 and presented at InnoTrans. In the following years, with this and another locomotive of this type extensive testing both at home and abroad.

In September 2010 two of the previously completed copies were initially delivered as Mietlokomotiven to the traffic Peine- Salzgitter. In 2011, this company is to receive the first production delivery of 18 locomotives of this type. In June 2011 VPS ordered 22 more G6, so that as of 2016 40 locomotives of the series G6 will be at VPS in use. Three other machines are also on loan at BASF in Ludwigshafen in use, the end of 2011, BASF ordered, inter alia, 16 G6. The first sold G 6 is used in the Stendal pulp mill since 2011.
