Vouvry

Vouvry is a municipality in the district of Monthey in the French speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. High above the Rhone Valley is the - 1999 taken out of service - the only oil thermal power station in Switzerland ( Centrale Thermique de Vouvry ).

Geography

The 33.54 km ² large municipality comprises essentially a section of the Rhone Valley in the east and by filled.The from Bach Le Fossau valley and the adjacent mountains in the west. North of the main settlement of the Vouvry is located between a mountain foot of the Alps and the Rhone bottleneck Porte Scex.
