Vøringfossen

Vringsfossen is a waterfall in Norway. The drop height is 183 m, the water, the largest free-fall distance 145 m. The waterfall is located on the western edge of the Hardangervidda in Eidfjord not far from Route 7, which connects Oslo with Bergen. The distance to Oslo is about 300 km, to mountains about 150 km.

The small river Bjoreio, during which the Vringsfossen lies is above the waterfall in the valley Sysendalen dammed by the Sysendammen and used for electricity production. The amount of water is therefore limited, but is increasing for reasons of tourism in the summer to approximately 12 cubic meters of water per second, which corresponds approximately to the natural flow.
