Vrnjačka Banja

Vrnjačka Banja (Serbian Cyrillic - Врњачка Бања ) is a city and municipality in Serbia, in the Raška District. In 2002 the city had 9,877 inhabitants, the municipality 26 492.

Excavations 1924, evidence of the Roman use of the place found as a spa. In particular coins from the 2nd to the 5th century and bathing pools indicate the early use of the sources.

Tourism

The Vrnjačka Banja is the most visited and most famous spa in Serbia and was one of the best known in Yugoslavia. Even today, therefore many tourists flock from Macedonia and Montenegro to relax in the spa.

The main source of income of the city, making it the services associated with tourism. There are 7 mineral springs in place, four of which are recognized mineral springs used by the medical hydrotherapy.

  • 2011 took the 31ste meeting of the Federation of European Carnival Cities held in Vrnjačka Banja.
