Wadjkare

Wadjkare was an ancient Egyptian King (Pharaoh) of the 8th dynasty during the First Intermediate Period. He is regarded as obscure rulers.

Identity

Wadjkare is only once occupied by name. A small, labeled limestone plateau, known as Koptos decree R (Cairo Museum; Obj JE 41894 ), contains a royal decree, which is said to have written himself the king. It lists the ruler on penalties and convictions against those who should dare to profane the temple of Min- by - Koptos or to steal. From an archaeological point of view Egyptology as the decree is not considered as reliable as the Horus name Djemed - ib- taui and the cartridge name Wadjkare are not mentioned, contrary to the usual conventions together in a sentence. Also, the name Wadjkare appears in no later king list. For this reason, the existence of a ruler named Wadjkare is already in doubt.

Farouk Gomaa and George Hayes have the Horus name Djemed - ib- taui to a ruler named Neferirkare II and Wadjkare they put a certain Hor - Chabau same. Hans Goedicke sees Wadjkare the predecessor of Djemed - ib- taui and assigns both the 9th dynasty.
