Wageningen is a place and resort in the Republic of Suriname, in the district of Nickerie.

Wageningen is located in the northwestern part of Suriname on Nickerie, opposite the mouth of the Maratakka. Wageningen is the center of the rice cultivation of Suriname. It was the seat of the former state enterprise Stichting Machinale Landbouw (SLM ), today announced the Private Suriname Rijst Organisatie (SRO) with approximately 5,000 acres of developable area. The town has 3,094 inhabitants and has a hospital, police station, post office, basic schools, one junior high school, two swimming pools, sports fields, several churches, the community center Masanga, a cultural center, a hotel and motel. In Wageningen also an airstrip was built by Airport Code (AGI ), and it has a harbor for small seagoing vessels.
