Waggonfabrik Rastatt

The BWR Wagon Repair GmbH (founded in 1897 as a wagon factory in Rastatt ) has its headquarters in Rastatt, Baden- Württemberg.

History

The company was founded in 1897 and introduced mainly railway cars and vehicles for the tram ago. Until the First World War as an important user of the cars was the Grand Ducal Baden State Railways, in addition, other governmental and private railway companies were supplied at home and abroad. Trams were made ​​, for example, the OEG, the little train Pforzheim- Ittersbach, Karlsruhe Transport and the Stuttgart trams.

Following the acquisition of a majority shareholding by Bauknecht the wagon factory in 1971 converted into a GmbH. The division was moved away from the production and toward repair and reconstruction of wagons. After several name changes and acquisitions, also because of the bankruptcy of Bauknecht, finally emerged the BWR Wagon Repair GmbH.
