Wakayama Prefecture

The Wakayama Prefecture (Japanese和 歌 山 県, Wakayama - ken) is a prefecture of Japan. It is located in the Kinki region on Honshu island. My office is located in Wakayama.

Geography

The Wakayama Prefecture is located on the southwest side of the Kii Peninsula. Thus, borders a large part of their approximately 600 km long coastline on the Seto Inland Sea. To the north is the Osaka Prefecture and northeastern prefectures Nara and Mie. On the border of these two prefectures are also two enclaves: a district of Shingu and the entire community Kitayama, as the only municipality of Japan.

Determine how around the Kii peninsula also mountains and nature, the landscape, the larger cities are situated along the coast. Due to its somewhat remote location, the population is lower here than in the rest of Kansai, more than a third of all residents of the prefecture live alone in the eponymous capital of Wakayama.

Attractions

The prefecture is known primarily for its beautiful nature, especially in conjunction with the numerous sacred mountains and Shintōstätten. The Kumano Sanzan and the mountain Kōya and the associated pilgrimage routes in 2004 in conjunction with the holy sites in Yoshino / Omine ( Nara Prefecture ) on the World Heritage Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range has been appointed. Also the Yoshino- Kumano National Park, the Kongō - Ikoma - Kisen and Kōya - Ryujin Quasi - National Park, as well as the marine reserve of Kushimoto are attractions for nature lovers and hikers who are looking for some relaxation from the daily stress of work. These are also found in the popular hot springs of Katsuura Onsen, Kawayu Onsen, Shirahama Onsen or Ryujin Onsen.

Featured landmarks are Shirahama ( in Japanese popular are the sandy beaches in the summer), Kushimoto and Yura.

Also known are the Nachi- Katsuura waterfall and castle of Wakayama.
