Walburga, Lady Paget

Walburga Honor Guard Helena Countess of High Thal, later Lady Walburga Paget ( May 3, 1839 in Berlin, † October 11, 1929 ) was a German maid of honor at the Prussian royal court and author.

Life

She came from the eminent Saxon noble family Hohenthal and was one of the ladies of Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland, the Prussian Crown Princess and later Empress or Emperor Dowager. She was appointed jointly with Mary Lynar for maid of honor, after Prince Albert of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha protested that his daughter were adjoined only significantly older court officials at the Prussian court. Then the two countesses were appointed maids of honor.

Hohenthal later married the British diplomat Augustus Berkeley Paget and left extensive records of the age that they had experienced. Together with her husband she lived among other things, the Danish royal court. There she played a role in the matchmaking between the Prince of Wales with the Danish princess Alexandra of Denmark.
