The Walchensee -Class is a series of four coastal tankers of Class 703, which have been built for the supply of warships in the harbor and in the coastal waters as well as for the transportation of supplies between depots and other welfare institutions of the Federal Marine / German Navy.

General

  • 703/ 01 Walchensee (A 1424)

The lead ship of this class was first asked for the command of the Troßschiffe and with home base in Flensburg- Mürwik service. On October 1, 1967 under change of position to the newly established first supply squadron and on 1 April 1997 was the Albatross Squadron. As the last ship Walchensee has left the naval base resolution Flensburg on 12 October 1998. She was then stationed in Kiel and launched after the decommissioning in Wilhelmshaven.

In 2005, the ship has VEBEG was initially sold to Denmark and was later registered in Nigeria as a tanker Walchensee with IMO number 9027855 and call sign 5NHYS.

  • 703/ 02 Ammersee (A 1425)

Went into service for the Versorgungsflottille with home base Olpenitz. Analogous to Walchensee the Ammersee was subordinated to the first supply squadron and the squadron armada. After the dissolution of the naval base Olpenitz is from January 2006, the new home port of Kiel.

  • 703/ 03 Tegernsee (A 1426)

  • 703/ 04 Westensee (A 1427)
