Waldemar Philippi

Waldemar " Fips " Philippi ( born April 13, 1929 † 4 October 1990) was a German football player and most capped player of the Saarland national football team. He was in the early 1950s as one of the best German defender.

Philippi played from 1945 to 1960 at the 1 FC Saarbrücken. He completed this 265 cup and league Official matches in the system of the DFB, two European games and a season in the French second division, 1948/49, took part in the Saarbrücken to the politically motivated exclusion from the Oberliga South West North for a year.

Because of the political status of the Saar, he could not play in the German national team, but was with 18 inserts (of 19 ) most capped player for the Saarland Football Association.
