Waldo de los Ríos

Waldo de los Ríos ( born September 7, 1934 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, † March 28, 1977 in Madrid, Spain) was an Argentine pianist, bandleader, arranger and composer.

Life and career

De los Ríos was a musician, his mother a well-known folk performer. He studied at the Conservatory in Buenos Aires in 1962 and went to Spain.

Waldo de los Rios had a similar role as James Last in Germany in Spain. He led the The Manuel de Falla Orchestra.

International fame reached Waldo de los Rios in 1971 by its classical arrangements in the style of contemporary pop music. His single Mozart Symphony No. 40 reached number 10 in the German charts

In addition, he wrote 1958-1977 the film music for more than 30 films.

Waldo de los Ríos in 1977 suffered from depression and committed suicide.
