Walking the plank

About walk the plank ( Plankentoner Go ) was an execution form on pirate ships.

The condemned man was handcuffed and placed on a plank that was so attached to the railing that they stood by the ship out to sea. The offender was then forced with a spear, go to the end of the plank, where he fell into the water and usually drowned.

This form of execution is part of the pirate legend, but was rarely used. Usually pirates threw their prisoners overboard. Only one case has been documented, reported from the 1820 newspaper.
