Wallace Line

The phytogeographical boundary that corresponds to that between the Faunenreichen the Oriental and Australis, is that between the realms of Flore Australis and the Paläotropis. The location of this boundary line differs significantly from that starting in the fauna. Botanically includes the Australis only the Australian mainland and a few nearby islands. The entire island arc between Asia and Australia, including the large island of New Guinea is in the floristic composition of the Asian flora much more similar and is therefore expected to Paläotropis.
