Wallace Monument

Location and History

Built in neo-gothic style tower is located 1.5 km north-east of Stirling on the mountain Abbey Craig on the road to Dunbley. Supposedly Wallace have observed from this hill from the English army, before he commanded the Scottish troops in the attack. The construction took eight years. Locals claim that they had built the tower as an attraction for English tourists.

Museum

The Wallace Monument is home to a year-round museum with information about the Battle of Stirling Bridge and famous Scottish personalities. At the top of the tower has a viewing platform, The Crown, from which one can overlook Stirling from a height of 100 m above sea level. Here you have a wonderful view to Stirling Castle.
