Walpurgis Hall
The Walpurgishalle on the witches ' dancing place near Thale in the Harz is a building in a modeled " Old Germanic " style.
History
The Walpurgis Hall was built in 1901 by the Berlin architect Bernhard Sehring as a block house and inaugurated the same year. The idea for the hall was painted by Hermann Hendrich, who created the five large paintings inside the hall. This show five scenes from the Walpurgis of Goethe's Faust: Irrlichtertanz, Mammonshöhle, Witch Dance, Bride of the Wind and Gretchen appearance ( Gretchen tragedy). Today the hall is a museum.
