Walter Berndt

Walter Berndt ( born November 22, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York City; † August 15, 1979 in Port Jefferson ( New York)) was an American comic book artist.

Berndt worked for the New York Journal - first as an office boy, then as a sports cartoonist. He drew the cartoon for a short time And the Fun Begins and also tried his hand - largely unsuccessfully - as a cartoonist at the newspaper New York World. From 1922, then Berndt published in a syndicate. His comic strip to the young office boy Smitty, his little brother Herby, the girlfriend Ginny and his boss, Mr. Bailey as minor characters was published more than 50 years in American newspapers.
