Walter Cowan

Sir Walter Henry " Tich " Cowan KCB, DSO, MVO ( born June 11, 1871 in Crickhowell, Brecknockshire, † February 14, 1956 ) was a British admiral.

Life

He was the successor of Edwyn Alexander - Sinclair on January 6, 1919 a British fleet squadron in the Baltic Sea. It supported a government mandate massive aspirations for independence of the Estonian and Latvian population in the Baltics.

Cowan was in 1927 appointed Admiral and went into retirement in 1931. During World War II he was reactivated and was employed by the British commandos.

Honors

2007 Estonian Mine boat Sandown class was named after Cowan.
