Walter Eisfeld

Walter ice rink ( born July 11, 1905 in Halle, † April 3rd, 1940 in Dachau) was an SS -Sturmbannführer and commandant of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp of Neuengamme concentration camp.

Life

Ice rink, since his youth fond of the army, the organization Rossbach and the Artamanen joined. After the 1923 accession to the Hitler Youth, he became in 1925 a member of the Nazi Party and SA. Ice rink joined in 1929 by the SA and the SS and was employed there full time from 1934. From November 1936 he was a member of the 7th SS -Standarte " Fritz Schlegel ". During the year 1937, he was first employed in the Dachau concentration camp and from 1938 in Sachsenhausen concentration camp. In the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, he quickly rose to the First officer in charge and took over in September 1939, the post of camp commandant in Sachsenhausen concentration camp by Hermann Baranowski. An incident during the inspection of the camp by Heinrich Himmler led the beginning of February 1940 he was transferred as commandant in the Neuengamme concentration camp. In Neuengamme ice rink was that quickly became known for its brutality among the prisoners, referred to by them as " cold ". When he should be given the "silver party badge " in Dachau in April 1940, ice rink died unexpectedly.
