Walter Hermann von Heineke

Walter Hermann von Heineke ( born May 17, 1834 in Nice (Elbe ), † April 28, 1901 in Erlangen, Germany ) was a German surgeon and university professor in Erlangen.

Career

As the son of the physician Karl Friedrich Heineke (1798-1857) studied Heineke Medicine at the Georg- August-Universität Göttingen, Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Berlin, the University of Leipzig and the University of Greifswald. There he was surgical pupil and assistant of Heinrich Adolf von Bardeleben. He received his doctorate in 1858, Dr. med and habilitated in 1863. 1867 he was appointed to the Surgical Department of the Friedrich -Alexander- University of Erlangen, where he remained until his death. In 1884 he became a member of the Leopoldina.

He was a member of the Corps Brunsviga Göttingen ( 1855) and Vandalia Berlin ( 1856).
